size / dimensions: 14" X 11" X 4"
We acquired this in postwar England in 1950. It is a French mantle clock made about 1870 which features painted Sevres porcelain china images on face. The case is French cast gilt bronze signed by P.H. Mourey #6148. Phillipe Mourey was a French sculptor and was best known for his association with the noted 19th century Paris clockmakers, Japy Freres & Company. The clock movement is Le Marti et Cie, a company which had received Medaille de Bronze at the Paris Exhibition in 1855. The chime strike is a beautiful angelic high-pitched tone sounding once on half hours and the number fitting with the hour on the hour. Size is 14" tall, 11" wide and 4" deep. Terms are cash at time of item pickup.
