Job Summary:
Eastern Washington University is currently recruiting for a Food Services Supervisor 1. This position supervises food service employees in our Dining Services operations, special events, or catering locations. The position is responsible for food service production in a large scale production kitchen.
  • Duties include scheduling and managing food service staff,
  • Participation in all aspects of food production and service of food,
  • Cash handling, cleaning/sanitation, and customer service.
  • This position will assist in training new staff and teaching food service techniques and processes.
  • The selected candidate may receive off campus training to meet franchise certifications and must be able to meet all EWU franchise uniform requirements (uniforms are provided by EWU) and personal hygiene standards.
  • This position will be assigned to our on-campus Panda Express store.
  • The salary for this position is $43,560 - $58,044. Where the hired candidate will begin within this range is dependent on education, experience, and skills.

Required Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Food Handlers Permit
  • Washington State Drivers License
  • Two years of previous food service experience
  • Candidate must demonstrate interest, ability and/or experience promoting cultural competency, universal accessibility and/or diversity.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Previous college or university food service experience.
  • Supervision/lead experience in a high volume food service location.
  • Previous Panda Express experience.

Other Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of: practices, methods, and procedures of large-scale food preparation and servicing; personal hygiene, food handling, sanitation, and safety precautions; care and use of kitchen utensils and equipment; record keeping, report preparation; personnel functions.

Maintain proper record keeping, work schedules, attendance and leave reports, accident reports; review reports and data.Percent of Time: 20

Ensures proper food handling and sanitation. Eliminates safety hazards. Ensures proper care and use of equipment in dining areas and kitchens.Percent of Time: 10

Inspects food inventory for proper rotation and storage.Percent of Time: 10

Requisitions food, supplies, and equipment.Percent of Time: 10

Responsible for and directs setting up of food service line and food service procedures.Percent of Time: 10

Maintains food service equipment and locations.Percent of Time: 5

Ensures orderly supply of food to service lines during serving hours and proper portioning of food.Percent of Time: 5

Requisitions minor repairs and reports major issues.Percent of Time: 5

Conditions of Employment:
  • This position requires a valid food handlers permit and a drivers license.
  • This position requires the ability to work evenings and weekends.
  • This position must meet Panda Express training expectations, franchise uniform requirements (uniforms are provided) and personal hygiene standards.
  • This is a 100%, full-time (40 hours per week), partial-year career position that is eligible for full EWU benefits.
  • During the course of university employment this position will be involved in the receipt of, or accountability for, university funds or other items of value; as well as the unsupervised access with the developmentally disabled, vulnerable adults or children under the age of 16. The offer of employment is contingent upon successful completion and passing of a background check prior to beginning employment.
  • All new employees will comply with EWU Immunization Policy 602-02 and provide proof of immunity or vaccination to MMR before beginning work at EWU. Waivers for the immunization requirements are available for medical or sincerely held religious beliefs.

Salary Information:
$43,560 - $58,044. Where the hired candidate will begin within this range is dependent on education, experience, and skills.
