Hi everyone, I am looking for a loving home for my foster cat, Maisie. She is 3 years old, spayed, unknown vaccine history and has been an indoor-only cat for her whole life. About a month ago, a friend reached out to tell me that a family member had been abusing Maisie. She was able to convince them to give her up to me, and she has spent the last month at my house decompressing.
Initially, she was quite scared and would hiss and growl any time I came close to her. After about 5 days, she warmed up and allowed me to pet her. Whenever I go into her room she comes right out from wherever she has been sleeping and is always very affectionate. She seems to be afraid of feet? If I am crouched on the ground with her and then stand up she will hiss and/or swat. She's never drawn blood before or bit me, but she does seem to be a bit traumatized from her previous living situation.
I am hoping to find her a home with someone who is extremely comfortable with cat body language and behavior. Because of her history at her previous home, she would likely do best in a place where there are no young children. She might be okay with older children if they are very respectful and patient with her. I am unsure how she would do with other cats and dogs. I believe that if she is given a slow, patient introduction to other animals who are able to respect her boundaries, this could work for her. She has really won my heart over, but the cats I already have are not good with female cats and I have a small child at home.
Please reach out if you think you might be a good fit for Maisie. I am only asking for a rehoming fee to ensure that she goes to someone with good intentions. I am willing to drive her out to her new home as well if that makes anything easier. She has so much love to give to the right people.
