SMART Recovery® is a secular, science-based approach to to addictive and maladaptive behaviors. We have a new group (open to the public) that has started in Coeur d'Alene.
It is an abstinence-based, mutual-help group similar to AA, NA and such, but it is not 12-Step. It is based on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT) and other modalities. Instead of "steps", SMART's approach involves various CBT and REBT "tools" we teach to help maintaining motivation, cope with urges, deal with racing thoughts, and achieve lifestyle balance.
Our meetings are held on Wednesdays, 5:30pm-6:30pm, at St. Luke's Episcopal Church (downstairs, by the double-blue doors), on the corner of 5th and Wallace near downtown Coeur d'Alene.
