I imagine you might be upset if you were the French. The 60 billion dollar 2016 contract the French had with the Australian government to build diesel battery electric submarines was cancelled in favor of USA submarines. The Australians want nuclear instead of diesel electric. The French, being in the eu can’t do nuclear anymore. Sure nuclear powered subs are better, but who wants a retired nuclear sub core buried in their backyard.
Pro nuclear, say the stuff is safe. Except at Hanford Washington, we have hundreds of house sized concrete
vaults waiting for expired USA submarine radioactive nuclear cores. How can anyone think
nuclear power generation is safe. They are dealing with radioactive waste material with half life’s of 500,000 years.
The pyramids are 5000 years old and crumbling. How are we going to dispose of that waste?
The life of a nuclear sub reactor is 20-25 years. Not to mention the 27 nuclear submarine accidents and the hundreds of sailors killed.
