Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Journeyman Painter to join our dynamic construction team. Duties
Prepare surfaces thoroughly by cleaning, sanding, plastering, caulking, and applying primer to ensure optimal paint adhesion.
Apply paints, stains, varnishes, and specialty coatings using hand tools such as brushes, rollers, spray guns—including airless paint spraying—and power tools to achieve smooth, even finishes.
Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and construction drawings to accurately execute painting plans aligned with project specifications.
Perform detailed trim carpentry, fixture installation, and stucco work as needed for comprehensive surface finishing.
Conduct restoration and renovation work by matching colors based on color theory principles and ensuring consistency across surfaces.
Utilize construction estimating skills to assess project scope and materials needed for efficient job completion.
Maintain safety standards on-site by following proper procedures during working with scaffolding, welding equipment, masonry materials, and other construction tools.
Collaborate with carpenters, masons, drywall installers, and other tradespeople to coordinate tasks seamlessly on the construction site.
Assist with maintenance tasks such as minor repairs or handyman work to support overall project progress.
Skills
Extensive experience in residential painting, commercial painting, industrial painting, and construction painting environments.
Proficiency in using hand tools like brushes, rollers, scrapers; power tools including sanders and spray equipment; and specialized tools for plastering and masonry.
Strong knowledge of color theory for achieving desired aesthetic effects and surface matching.
Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and construction drawings accurately for precise project execution.
Skilled in surface preparation techniques such as sanding, plastering (including stucco), caulking, and trim carpentry.
Experience with renovation projects involving remodeling or restoration work; familiarity with fixture installation and framing carpentry is a plus.
Basic math skills for measuring materials and estimating quantities efficiently.
Knowledge of schematics related to industrial systems or specialized coatings enhances versatility on complex projects.
Experience working on construction sites with safety compliance; ability to adapt quickly in fast-paced environments using scaffolding or working at heights.
Familiarity with maintenance tasks including concrete finishing or masonry work; handyman experience is advantageous.
