When plugged in, the elements crackled for a second and I immediately unplugged it. Seems as though there is electrical continuity, but judging by the appearance of the cord/plug/cable and the interior, I would not recommend doing so without restoration. I'm not an electrician so who knows.
Brand is Simplex, the date is estimated to be 1920-1930; text on bottom of toaster but hard to read.
