Up for sale is this Trek Pilot 5.0 Road bike frame, fork and headset. The frame was ridden for less than a week and then swung into the car's bike rack damaging the left chainstay. I removed some of the paint to inspect the damage and there is a visible crack in the carbon fiber on one side of the tube. I believe this to be an easy DIY fix for someone who likes this sort of bike.
The Trek Pilot 5.0 was the top of the line versatile "endurance" road bike produced in the mid-2000s, designed for comfort and stability rather than aggressive racing. It featured an upright riding position, taller head tube, shorter top tube and stable handling, serving as a forerunner to modern endurance bikes like the Trek Domane. This one is for a tall rider 6' to 6' 3" who wants a super light and efficient upright ride. It is not designed for super wide gravel tires with a maximum rear tire size of 700 x 28. The Bontrager Satelite fork has clearance for 700 x 38 tires the extra long steerer has never been cut to length so many different riding positions are possible. The Cane Creek headset has also never been installed. The fork and headest alone are a bargain at this price!
