1971 International Scout II prototype (Pilot). Quite rare! Currently listed on eBay. This is one of group of pilot scouts assembled and sent to International Harvesters proving grounds in Phoenix Arizona. It is configured as a travel top with 345 V8 engine, 4 speed manual transmission and Dana 20 transfer case. The numbers for the body, frame, engine, transmission and axles match the original IH build sheet referred to as a Line Setting Ticket. This was my daily driver back in 2003 in Arizona. It is currently not running and was in process of restoration when I moved from Arizona.
The last couple photos are prior to beginning the restoration. Rust repair was completed in the front floor area with new metal back in 2003. The rest of the body including rocker panels is very clean. Bodywork is not complete but primed just to protect areas of bare metal. Completed so far have been the frame, leaf springs, axles, brakes, transfer case and transmission. I believe the engine spun a cam bearing. It spun freely when pulled and sat in the garage since 2004. It now only turns freely for about 3/4 rotation. This is a great project with potential high dollar value. I may consider partial cash and trade. (FJ,Wrangler,Bronco)
