Presenting a beautiful restored Sony STR 7800 SD. This receiver was completely recapped, and a new dial string, FM realigned, and all pots and switches were cleaned. Service was performed by a Huppins technician who is one of the best in Spokane County.
Like most vintage receivers, they have veneered particle board, which has been heavily damaged, cracked, or straight-up missing. This receiver was no exception. Therefore, it was replaced with solid walnut side panels, giving it the rich look and class it deserves. Please note: the Bass Knob is not original, but it is very hard to tell the difference.
A recent review stated, " A true sleeper and a special piece of gear. The design and packaging are very service-friendly, and the technology is quite ahead of its time. Giant toroidal transformer, gobs of power, and an extremely good tuner section. This receiver was barely marketed, sold in small quantities, and isn't easy to find. The STR-7800SD was built as a statement piece, and it is rather striking, given the size and weight. While the faceplate and model numbering scheme are in line with Sony's STR-X800SD line, there are few similarities under the hood. The 7800SD uses all discrete devices and is conservatively rated at 125wpc at 8ohm loads.
