The same company that furnished Yellowstone’s Old Faithful Inn, Camp David, and FDR’s Warm Springs retreat made this children’s art desk — and I challenge you to find another one. I can’t.
This is a sculptural mid-century modern children’s activity desk with built-in art station features that were decades ahead of their time:
Three recessed circular wells molded into the desktop (paint cups, ink wells)
Tool holder with four precision-drilled holes (brushes, pencils, pens)
Two drawers with original round wooden knobs
Two matching wooden accessory storage boxes
Splayed angled legs — classic MCM design
Solid hardwood, warm brown finish
Dimensions: 17.5” tall × 43.5” wide × 18.5” deep
Condition: Honest vintage. Surface wear, scratches, and patina from decades of use. Structurally sound. All drawers functional. Wells and tool holes intact.
Makers Mark: “OLD HICKORY / MARTINSVILLE / INDIANA” stamp confirmed on underside. Martinsville stamp dates this pre-1978 (company relocated to Shelbyville after that).
