Been there, done that mule! Wrangled mustangs, herded cattle, leads pack animals, packed pannier boxes, crossed rivers, walked through parades, gamed in events, competed in obstacle courses, etc.
Lots of people LOVE this mule. Many said he was their favorite at various events. Several tried to buy him over the years, but I wasn't ready at the time. Now that I have mustangs to train, I am willing to sell Otter and other equines.
15.1 hands
Very desensitized (tractors, motorcycles, side-by-sides, gunshot, livestock, tarps, flags, parades, costumes, walked right up to smoky the bear costume, deer hides, etc). He's very curious.
Can slide off his butt, crawl under
Walks out alone or in a group, leads a pack string or follows in a pack string
Walk/trot/canter/gallop, side-passes, yields hindquarter, moves forequarters, open gates from the saddle, etc.
Walks out fast, can keep up with gated animals.
Wrangles wild mustangs off the saddle horn (1st place calf-roper at Bishop Mule Days wanted to buy Otter for a roping prospect a few years ago but I wasn't ready to sell him yet)
Loves herding cattle
Calm but alert, impossible to sneak up on him, he's always watching for bear
Will game but prefers trail
Loves to go places and see new things, he's so happy when I pick him to ride
Outstanding with obstacles
Crosses bridges, creeks, logs, up or down anything
Loves water, creeks, river, ocean
Sure footed
A lot of fun to ride
Picks up right where he left off after months of not riding
Easy to saddle/bridle
Good with ears
Easy to load and trailer; self-loads, sometimes hangs out in the trailer if I leave the door open
Hilarious bray, people cannot imagine what I have in the trailer, sounds like a dragon
Funny, big personality, loves to play, entertaining to watch him play with others, he makes up games (don't leave your stuff out, he will play tug-of-war with it, my hoses have holes in them, leave sticks and fat ropes out for him to play with other equines)
Loves chaos, he creates it, and wants to be right in the middle of it, total clown
In your pocket, loves attention
Easy to catch
Great barefoot
Never shod
Good with trimming
Joins up when lunging; I don't do a lot of roundpen work with mules because they get bored, but I do enough to ensure respect
Excellent confirmation and color, lots of compliments (several wanted to buy him based on his looks and personality)
Stout, good bone, well-proportioned (one guy said he would love Otter as a pack mule because he is built with good bone to carry some weight)
Typical muleā¦he will ask for your resume. Has been ridden by beginner kids in events and parades but he will take advantage mainly in events if he thinks he can. Not as likely to take advantage in parades or on trail.
