I bought three different design grapples over the years until I found the right one for my needs, salesman have no idea the differences between the several different types and designs and purpose of the different grapple designs.
This grapple design is what most people want or need.
It is a “root grapple” made for digging up roots and then picking the roots up and rocks and stuff!
It is great for picking up large rocks or chunks of concrete
It works well for picking up logs up to 3 ft in diameter
It works super well for picking up brush and getting a good mouth full.
It can pick up any style of hay bale.
It can be used in any position.
This design grapple are the most expensive but worth it.
American made
There is really nothing you can’t pick up effectively, efficiently and correctly with this design the other designs are hit and miss.
Grapples will not work correctly on tractors without a third hydraulic valve. 90% of the tractors have only 2 way valves. FEL up and down and tilt for bucket. For grapples you need an additional third function to open and close the jaws. About $1,200 plus to install.
All skid steers should have the three function system, I use it on a skid steer.
You can see it work if you like.
I would not buy a grapple or any implement unless you can see it work on a tractor or skidsteer. There is a lot of junk and poor designs on implements especially the Chinese crap and the guys selling as a side hustle are totally clueless.
