This Sculpin Fly is my own design. It’s very unique. It is a heavy weight forward designed Hook so that it drops fast even in swift water. The fly is close to 4 inches long in a Rabbit strip hair design. I make it in many colors but for the Sculpin design I suggest the black color. As the fly drops it hits the cooper extended loop in a vertical position with the tail end of the rabbit strip vertical off the bottom. The Hook is inverted into the body of the rabbit fur for less bottom snags. There is an amazing amount of flex enticing movement in the rear tail section of the fly. The Head of the fly has a wide flat look with a custom built barbell type eye set and the typical extruded side fin’s. This Fly also has simulated clumped Egg Roe attached to the copper loop to simulate a Sculpin feeding on the gravel or cobblestone type bottom. I would use this design when the spawn cycles happen in April , May , September and October for Rainbow , Cut Throat , Brown’s and Lake Trout. Especially for Browns since they guard the eggs until they hatch. If You are so lucky to live close to a Steelhead or Salmon run river it would be a good fly also. I know the fly is expensive but it takes a long time to make with a lot of materials to make the fly. I would ask a minimum purchase of 4 flies for anyone who is interested in trying this design.
