Interface Driving partners with parents to ensure their New Driver receives the knowledge and skills needed to become safe, responsible drivers. We are looking for full time (30+ hours) and part-time people with a desire to help us with this mission. The knowledge and skills you will pass on to new drivers, both young and old, will help them manage the threats and hazards all drivers encounter on our roads.
You will have the opportunity to:
Teach Driver’s Education classes in person or online
Online classes are via Zoom and can be taught from your home
Guide students in Behind the Wheel lessons covering a full range of driving environments
Offer post drive feedback to students and parents highlighting what students did well and tips on areas needing improvement.
Become a State Approved Examiner who can administer the State Knowledge and Skills exam to people wanting to get their
Driver’s License.
Training & Pay
We pay the cost of becoming a licensed instructor
Washington requires new instructors to receive 60-100 hours of training
Current and former teachers, certified trainers and some military personnel may require only 60 hours of training.
Pay rates
During Training
If you commit to 30+ hours per week during the training period you will paid $18 per hour
If training schedule is less than 30 hours per week you will be paid a completion bonus of $1500 in 3 installments.
$500 once you are licensed and begin working as an instructor
$500 at the end of 1 month and 3 months of employment
Full time availability during training period a plus but not required
Training hours are available weekdays, weekends, and evenings
Once you are licensed,
Base pay - $22 - $24 per hour
$1 an hour increase if you become a state approve examiner
Instructors who teach an in-person or online class will receive a bonus over and above their base pay for the class hours they
teach.
Instructors must be available to work on weekdays, weekends, and evenings, as needed, to accommodate class and testing schedules.
Police, fire, first responders, military, and teachers are highly valued, but not required.
WA State Requirements
To qualify, you must meet Washington State Department of Licensing (DOL) standards:
• Valid Washington or Idaho State driver’s license
• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent
• Licensed driver for at least 5 years
• At least 21 years of age
• Pass a Criminal background check
Driving record requirements:
• No more than 1 moving violation in the past 3 years
• No drug/alcohol-related violations
• No license suspensions, cancellations, revocations, or denials in the past 10 years
Applicants who speak Spanish or Russian are valued but not required
